GILMORE GIRLS: LUCKY SEVEN

Seven Thanksgivings ago, in 2016, JAMAH made its Gilmore Girls debut. In the show’s Netflix reboot, “Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life,” Rory Gilmore returned to Stars Hollow with a JAMAH bag slung over her arm.

Before filming began, costume designer Brenda Maben approached Nancy about the possibility of featuring The Rosey Special Edition on the show. When Brenda first saw the bag, she knew right away that it perfectly reflected the sophistication and style of Rory Gilmore’s adult life as a journalist in London. Structured and striking while epitomizing versatility, The Rosey Special Edition could not be more Rory Gilmore. Brenda was also moved by the opportunity to feature a luxury brand that is Made in the USA and whose work is intertwined with a nonprofit.

Nancy considers this Gilmore Girls x JAMAH connection a gift that keeps on giving. Even now, seven years after the reboot launched, she frequently hears from new clients who discovered JAMAH because of Gilmore Girls. When the original Gilmore Girls aired in 2000-2007, the show was one of a handful that defined fashion for the new millennium and became synonymous with the coveted Hermès Birkin bag and brands including Chanel and Saint Laurent. When the reboot began to stream in 2016, many of the women who had watched the original series in their late teens or early twenties found themselves further along in their careers, able to access pieces they admired on the show like The Rosey Special Edition. These women flocked to JAMAH, confirming that this show–and the brand–are at the forefront of sophisticated style.

Back in 2016, Nancy was thrilled and honored to see JAMAH take its place on the small screen. When filming was complete, Brenda surprised Nancy by having Alexis Bledel sign the bag and then generously gifted it back to JAMAH to use as a fundraising opportunity for AMBITION. Brenda remains a devoted AMBITION supporter to this day.

Now, seven years after the reboot of a show that aired for seven years, the perfect moment for that fundraising opportuniity has finally arrived. Nancy never could have anticipated the excitement and attention that Gilmore Girls would bring to JAMAH, and she is now eager to direct that same excitement and attention towards the incredible work of AMBITION.
